Bryans Win Two ATP World Tour Awards
Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan stepped onto Centre Court at The O2 on Thursday to receive their trophies in the 2014 ATP World Tour Awards Presented by Moët & Chandon in an on-court ceremony at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
ATP Executive Chairman & President Chris Kermode presented the trophies to the World No. 1 doubles team. They swept the doubles awards for a sixth straight year, claiming the trophies for ATP World Tour No. 1 Doubles Team presented by Emirates and the ATPWorldTour.com Fans’ Favourite presented by Moët & Chandon – each for a record 10th time.
“It’s been a special year for us,” said Mike Bryan. “This year is definitely special – getting to 100 titles at the US Open and doing it at our home Slam. I’d like to thank my brother for being my partner all these years and not giving up on me.”
Along with their US Open crown, the duo picked up eight other titles this season, at ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Cincinnati, Shanghai and Paris; and in Delray Beach and Houston. They finished the season with 102 career titles; with their victory in the Shanghai final, the brothers achieved the Career Golden Masters.
The pair also addressed the crowd at The O2 after receiving the Fans’ Favourite Award. “We really appreciate it, all the votes and the love,” said Mike. “To go out here during this week and play in front of packed crowds, have a bunch of fun and get the love from fans is awesome.”
“I think this is [our 20th ATP World Tour award],” said Bob. “We’d like to keep going. This is what we dream about, being on this court and receiving these awards at the end of the year.”
