(L-R) John Isner, Bob and Mike Bryan, Sam Querrey, and Venus Williams with the HW Cup
It was a brother vs. brother weekend for Bob and Mike Bryan as the famed duo competed on opposite sides of the net during the inaugural San Antonio International Team Tennis Championships (SAITTC) at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, TX on November 10-12.
The event benefited notable charities, including the Bush Ace Outreach Program, San Antonio Sports iPlay Afterschool Program, and the Bryan Bros. Foundation, featuring current collegiate and professional tennis stars along with the Bryans.
Players were divided into two teams. Mike Bryan, former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka, Gael Monfils, Mary Stoiana, and Sam Querrey headlined the Austin Capitals and were coached by legendary tennis personality Murphy Jensen. Wayne Bryan, Bob and Mike's father, coached Bob and the San Antonio Smash team which were led by three-time US Open champion Kim Clijsters, John Isner, seven-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams, and J.J. Wolf.
After three exhilarating days of competition, the Smash were crowned the tournament's first champions.
Off the court, the Bryan Brothers graciously donated their time to the SAITTC assisting with the youth clinic that attracted over 800 participants.
Bob and Mike also made personal contributions to the SAITTC charity auction donating their racquets which helped the event raise $48,000 for children across the globe.
