For the first time in 20 years, the Davis Cup is returning to Delray Beach. On September 12–13, Captain Bob Bryan will lead Team USA against the Czech Republic at the Delray Beach Tennis Center, with a coveted spot in November’s Finals in Bologna, Italy, on the line. This marks the first Davis Cup tie on American soil since Reno, Nevada, in 2021.
Bryan has gone all-in, selecting America’s “Big Four”: Taylor Fritz (ATP World No. 4), Ben Shelton (No. 6), Frances Tiafoe (No. 14), and Tommy Paul (No. 16). All four carry strong Florida ties, and Shelton’s breakthrough Masters 1000 title in Toronto this August sealed his spot. “I’m lucky to have the top four Americans here,” Bryan told The Palm Beach Post. “They love being around each other, and the fans are going to see something special.”
The Czech squad arrives with serious momentum of its own, led by 2025 Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik (No. 17), Tomas Machac (No. 24), Jiri Lehecka (No. 26), and doubles standout Adam Pavlásek (No. 36).
The tie will follow the traditional best-of-five format: four singles matches and one doubles match across two days of play. The United States is seeking its first Davis Cup crown since 2007, when doubles icons Bob and Mike Bryan snapped a 12-year drought. Now, 18 years later, the chase is back on.
